Well Control personnel are often asked to assist in identifying blowout hazards in existing fields and future drilling projects. Upon identifying these hazards, mitigation plans are implemented in order to minimize the risk of occurrence. Depending on the impact of these hazards, specific contingency plans may be justified to help reduce risk to acceptable levels and identify short falls in equipment, techniques and emergency management procedures. |
