INNOVATIONS
- In 1991, Boots & Coots developed many technical innovations
for the fires of Kuwait, still in use today. We worked with
Halliburton to invent the abrasive jet cutter shown below.

- Boots & Coots worked with Harben Jet Edge to put in
a hand held ultra high jet cutter system, we invented the
three
ram capping
stack (inverted slip rams and pipe rams replace wellhead).

- Boots & Coots also successfully used dual stinger kill
method for the first time used on a large fire in Iraq in February,
2003,
as shown about to be applied below.

PATENTS
- B & C invented the patented "Dynamic Freeze Process" (U.S.
Patent No. 5,649,594: Method and Apparatus for Servicing a
Wellhead Assembly, Flak, L. H. and Tuppen, J)
Used by BP in
Sajaa Field,
Sharjah. This was documented in a SPE Paper – "Dynamic
Freeze Plug Process Proves a Viable Barrier Technique in Sajaa
Field, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates". Authors: Brian S. Powers,
SPE, BP plc., Randal D. Pruitt, SPE, BP plc, James Tuppen,
SPE, Boots & Coots.
B & C exclusively owns this patented process and won an internal
BP award.
